Hi guys!

I have some unexpected (limited) free time ahead of me, and since i've had quite a few requests for some commissions, I thought that it'd be the right time to do a few.
I can do anything, from a bust pencil sketch to a full blown figure in an environment, BW or color, traditional or digital.

Since the possibilities are quite varied, send me a note with your request, and I'll tell you my price (which will also depend on the complexity of what is asked. A painted sci-fi city will of course be more expensive than a cell-shaded character with no background).
Please precise if you want a full character, several ones, a background, colors, greytones, linework...

They will be done on a first come first served basis, and I will do one after another, until I don't have anytime left :)

Cheers

I don't come across comic book folk often these days, because I don't read comics, but I read some blog and got talkin' to the author who made some half interesting remarks...anyway, showed her(?-I think) one of your pics thinking she would enjoy it and now I think she wants to highlight your stuff.

If ya don't wanna, obviously you can refuse, but as far as I can tell, the only people who don't dig your stuff are the people who ain't seen your stuff. This will shrink that group if ya wanna shrink it.

That is the sum total of my involvement, so good luck, or sorry to get all up in yo bit'ness (whichever applies)

Ha! Well that was totally unexpected! Aren't you the good samaritan or something ;) eventhough I am not actively seeking anything, I am really sensitive to the fact that you dig my work enough to try and have more people exposed to it. And of course I have nothing against it.

I am curious to know more about this blog though. What is it?

Anyway, thank you for the renewed interest and the kind effort. really appreciate it :)

I don't know much of anything about it. I think the person who writes it is a girl and it is exclusively dedicated to comic books and things which revolve around comic books.

I've read the sum total of one article the girl (again, I think...) has written, which was a piece on the lacking non-black minority superheroes in the major comic publishing world.

She used a picture of Apache Chief from the Superfriends, and so I reminded her that the same Challenge of the Superfriends spin-off from which she took the big chief featured, absent Black Vulcan, since black heroes were off topic, Samurai (more like Samurawesome), El Dorado, Superman (if one creates a hero in their own image, albeit the handsomely distorted image of themselves, Superman is a Jew), a half Mexican Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter...still the prototype for that character, and still what makes it impossible for anyone else to play the role), Aquagay, and if the Wonder Twins aren't Asian, it's simply because all the people on their home planet are Asian...and then I listed some others.

Her comment back was interesting, so I made one back (you gotta realize, with the exception of picking up a TMNT #1 by accident a couple weeks ago in a stack of a few other books I got for free, I haven't opened a comic book in years, nor read one online, so for her to pique my interest with talk of comics was not too shabby).

Then she wrote...then I did...

Like I said, she was overall interesting enough, and the one thing I knew about her was that she liked comic books, though somewhat cool, esoteric aspects of them, so truly as an afterthought, I shot her one of your pics and said that I thought you were amazing and that she might dig on you as well, and that I was quite sure that she hadn't seen your stuff before because no one, basically, has (or, perhaps a few have, but I doubt that any of them know you by a consistent moniker).

I didn't say all of that, though...just that you put some cool shit together and that you were outside the industry (I also said that I was not your sock puppet and that she was free to see my shitty dA page, but that it was hardly worth anyone's time...because I know a lot of people will pull that kind of crap to promote themselves).

Apparently she liked what she saw.

You were an afterthought, man...I wasn't tryin' to push you out to the public at large...just conversed with someone who seemed cool enough, so I let her in on the little secret that was you.

I truly thought that would be the last I spoke to the girl and that would be that.

Anyway, if ya wanna check out the blog, here ya go:

(with the name Dick Queen, essentially, gay or female is all I got to go on, but in conversation, it felt like a girl.)

Good luck,

Your favorite stalker,

Me

I'm sorry, but are you just some guy who enjoys art and does this on the side, because if so, WOW!!! I can't believe I'm not seeing the covers that the major publishers have commissioned from you in your gallery.

I really think you would like this guy if you haven't already seen his stuff - [link]

Struggling Graphic Designer/Artist(like you?), though I have no idea why. Like you, some of his strongest pieces feature The Hulk.

My stuff is all jokes, so don't worry about it, but you two should hook up.'

Anyway, I like that you play with styles so as to avoid pigeonholing yourself. At the same time, having something recognizable and distinctive doesn't hurt either.

Haha, thanks! The first and foremost reason why you don't see any commission from "the major publishers" is that I've never submitted anything to them, makes it kind of hard for them to pick up my work, not that they necessarily would.
I'm working in an other field of art right now, but who knows what future will bring!

As for the style thing, I agree with you, but this has more to do with the colors that with my lines as far as I realize; it will all come in due time.
Thanks again for the comment!

No, I'm sayin', if art for the sake of art is the goal, then what you're doing will, in the end (I have to believe), make for the best art. If the field you're in now doesn't work out and you enjoy comic characters (can I still call them comic books, or is that not PC now?), then having a distinctive style that people can quickly recognize from a glance of a cover is the way to go.

Artists gotta eat, too...sometimes art for the sake of art leaves you with an empty belly.

Anyway, you're amazing....kinda a mix between Jim Lee and Jai Lee (the latter being my fave comic book artist of all time). Cheers.
